Hi Everyone! I’m really pleased to tell you all ,especially my fans from all over the world, I’m so
touched with the wonderful messages you left me on my website : ). I can’t Thank You all enough for all the support you gave me during the clay court season. I know your all wondering how I am after I played my last match on clay in Paris? My answer to that would be “ Not Bad at all : )”. Before I came to Paris I saw the draw and said to my self I’m ready to give my all for the last and biggest clay tournament of the season. As you all know Grand Slam are harder to play than regular tournaments. All the players are ready,in fact willing to give there all when playing the Slams. Honestly I didn’t really had the confidence I needed coming in to the French Open. But after I played my first two matches I felt my game on clay was getting better and better. I just sort of believed again. After my 3rd round win against Sugiyama, It was kind of funny when the media asked me who I preferred playing in the 4th round, Mauresmo or Safarova? And they even said maybe Momo, since she’s not in good shape right now? I answered , “I think nobody would like to play mauresmo in front of her crowd, believe me, I had that experienced when I play against her in Paris Indoors. The crowd can really be aggressive at times : ). Regardless if she fit or not, Momo in Paris? Good Luck ; ). Well I was fortunate to play Lucie Safarova in the 4th round, I must say that win against Lucie was by far my biggest win during this clay court season. Lucie is a great player. You better watch out because Lucie will climb up the rankings this year : ), Wait and see : ). Anyway after my match against Lucie,I felt really tired and feeling sick , I had a cough . I decided to see a doctor and see how bad my situation was. The doctor gave me a good news that it was just a flu and just needed a good rest . It really came in a bad time, getting sick in my first Roland Garros Quarterfinals : ( .I was off the next and decided not to practice and conserve my energy for the quarterfinals. I stayed in bed all day and drank too many tea with lemon and honey. I know one day of rest wasn’t enough to cure my flu. Well what can I do I had to play a quarterfinal match against Maria Sharapova. She deserved to win that match, I was surprised she didn’t play that well but credit to her. In fairness at 3 all in the first set, I really felt I was out on court for three long hours, that’s how really tired and sick I was. Despite the fact that media said it was an interesting match , it was a little bit funny actually : ).I didn’t get to go around Paris after my loss, I went back to Moscow the next day. Can you believe it, I didn’t go shopping in Paris? : ). Well it was okay I wasn’t feeling well to go shopping anyway. I’ll do it in London : ) . I’m just happy to be home and resting . Now I can say Clay season is sure over for me, Reaching my first Roland Garros was the highlight of my clay season. I know as a tennis player your goal is to play better tennis, go higher and achieve better results. I know there’s going to be more wonderful results for me in Paris and other Slams as the year goes by, its just a matter of time and hard work . For this year my goal is just to reach the top 5. After that I’ll take it one step at a time : ). With a good rest , I look forward to play the grass court season. Holland is going to be my next tournament. But before I say Good Bye for now ,again “ I JUST WANT TO THANK ALL MY FANS FOR ALL THE WONDERFUL SUPPORT YOU HAD GIVEN ME, YOU ARE AWESOME !!!!! : ). “ KEEP ON
CHEERING FOR ME!!! Till my next diary entry. Take Care!
XOXO Anna
